The Arta IPAs and their affiliated management company, Western Medical Management, conduct business operations in compliance with ethical standards, contractual obligations, and federal and state statutes, regulations and rules; and with health plan-specific policies, procedures, memoranda of understanding, codes of conduct and quality of service requirements adhered to on behalf of their HMO, Medi-Cal, Medicare and Healthy Families members.
 
Some of the key drivers of our conduct include:


  • Employing competent and experienced staff throughout the entire organization 
  • Adhering to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations, and protecting confidential information in general 
  • Fostering respect for and support of member and provider rights and responsibilities 
  • Complying with claims payment accuracy and timeliness standards 
  • Complying with financial-solvency standards mandated by the Department of Managed Health Care 
  • Fostering respect for the physician-patient relationship  
  • Addressing the needs of members in a timely and culturally-sensitive manner, and providing for competent interpreters when needed    
  • Responding in a timely manner to provider referral-authorization requests and establishing a direct-referral process as appropriate for certain selected services in order to facilitate member access to medical care and services  
  • Enhancing and strengthening communications and relationships with contracted providers by automating work-flow processes through a secure, proprietary, web-based provider portal (MedMetro™)   
  • Recognizing that adherence to these tenets of providing superior service builds trust and loyalty, and ultimately contributes to the long-term retention of members and providers
